Our Science and Insights team is currently seeking to appoint a Team Leader Customer Delivery to lead a high-performing team delivering customer services, regulatory map reviews and environmental spatial data that support important land management and environmental decisions across NSW.
As Team Leader Customer Delivery, you will lead a diverse team responsible for delivering high-quality customer support, managing regulatory map review processes and ensuring the timely provision of environmental spatial information to landholders, government agencies and other stakeholders. You will play a key role in improving customer experience by using evidence, feedback and insights to drive service enhancements, while ensuring services remain aligned with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Working within Science and Insights, you will collaborate closely with technical specialists, data custodians, co-regulators and government partners to support the ongoing maintenance and review of NSW regulatory maps and environmental datasets. The role offers a unique opportunity to lead a team that combines customer service, community engagement and technical review functions, while contributing to outcomes that support environmental protection, informed decision-making and sustainable land management across the state.
About You
You are an experienced people leader with a strong customer service mindset and a proven ability to manage complex workflows, competing priorities and high-volume enquiries. You bring experience leading teams in customer-facing environments and have successfully implemented case management processes that deliver consistent, transparent and high-quality outcomes. Your ability to build productive relationships with a range of stakeholders enables you to navigate complex issues, influence positive outcomes and maintain a strong focus on customer needs.
You will also possess experience interpreting and communicating technical, scientific or regulatory information to diverse audiences. Knowledge of spatial mapping, environmental data, regulatory frameworks or related service delivery environments will be highly regarded. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgement and a collaborative leadership style, coupled with the ability to drive continuous improvement, support your team's development and deliver results in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualifications in environmental and/or social sciences and/or relevant experience.

Science & Insights sits within the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), which works to protect the state’s environment and heritage while driving a sustainable future for NSW.
Working at the intersection of science, policy and delivery, Science & Insights collaborates across government, academia, industry and communities to identify priority issues and deliver practical, high-impact solutions.
The division brings together six specialist branches spanning conservation and restoration, climate and atmospheric science, environmental protection, remote sensing and landscape science, science impact and assessment, and water, wetlands and coastal science.
Together, these teams provide the evidence, expertise and insights needed to understand NSW’s environment, manage risks and drive sustainable outcomes.
The division’s work is focused on building a strong evidence base, advancing innovation in how data is gathered and used, and translating complex scientific information into clear, actionable insights and advice.
