Our Hotel

With 326 guest rooms and 31 suites, Mandarin Oriental, Miami is located in Brickell Key and is a prime location for both business and leisure guests.  It is an urban resort with Miami’s only private beach.

Overview of Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, supporting the Assistant Director of Finance in carrying out all responsibilities that have been set by the Finance Department. Incumbent must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents, as well as to possess the capability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Incumbent must possess the mathematical skills with the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

Duties and Supporting Responsibilities:

  • Actively post activities to the general ledger, including monthly accruals
  • Independently research and correct discrepancies from monthly reconciliations
  • Oversee all prepaid accounts and manage its monthly activity
  • Manage the month end inventories with other Department Heads
  • Perform monthly inventory spot checks
  • Manage the preparation and completion of the reconciliation of all accounts
  • Review and oversee the daily Bank activity
  • Prepare and file State and County tax filing and payments
  • Directly supervise Accounts Payables and support other areas as needed
  • Assist in the training of new department members
  • Identify problem areas and provide suggestions for improvement
  • Support the Assistant Dir. of finance in managing the Finance office with various daily duties
  • Prepare month end journal entries as part of the closing process
  • Analyse and prepare the monthly financial statements
  • Update subsidiary ledger for prepaid, inventory, utilities etc
  • Identify any risks, enforce, and implement the company’s Policies and Procedures as needed
  • Additional duties as developed, directed or assigned
  • Preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash forecast

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Assistant Director of Finance & Accounting. 

Requirements

• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the similar position, preferably in a luxury setting.

• Flexible schedule is required, including some weekends and holidays.

• Have excellent communication and organization skills.

• Must be able to work in a high-pace and dynamic operation. 

• Able to work together with other colleagues.

• Have a pleasant, friendly and helpful manner.

• Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.

• Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.

• Able to handle requests in a detailed manner.
