About the role

As the Group Digital Merchandising Manager, you will lead a team overseeing the digital merchandising strategy across Group Motoring, Cycling, and Group Services.

In this role, you’ll define and implement the Online Merchandising strategy and vision for Halfords’ digital platforms, including halfords.com, halfords.ie, and NTA sites. Your success will be measured by Digital NPS, as well as improvements in product, content, and service conversion rates and average order value, driven by excellence in merchandising execution.

Collaboration will be key, as you’ll work closely with teams across Digital & Customer, Store Operations, Marketing, and Trading to maximise merchandising effectiveness. You’ll also support ongoing projects across all channels, helping to drive business growth and performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define & Implement Strategy – Lead the digital merchandising and content strategy to drive conversion rates, average order value (AOV), and customer engagement.

  • Innovation & Optimisation – Identify and implement new technologies, tools, and enhancements to improve user experience and merchandising effectiveness.

  • Team Leadership & Development – Inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and a passion for product, content, and creativity.

  • Seamless Execution – Oversee content and merchandising plans, ensuring best practices, process efficiencies, and right-first-time execution.

  • Stakeholder & Partner Management – Work closely with internal teams and external partners/suppliers to deliver on business objectives and maximise value.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Use analytics, customer insights, and commercial data to continuously optimise performance and drive improvements.

  • Champion Best Practices – Promote the merchandising function within the business, ensuring clear processes, training, and high standards across the team.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in online merchandising, with a strong track record of driving performance.

  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.

  • Highly numerate, with the ability to analyse financial and competitor data to inform decision-making.

  • Skilled at building and managing excellent relationships across functions.

  • Experience in service and product marketing, pricing, promotions, and advertising, with a flair for creativity.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a tenacious, detail-oriented approach.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage and inspire teams, stakeholders, and partners.
