The Day Desk Assistant (DA) is a vital student member of Housing Operations and Residence Life. University Student Assistant - Game Day Hospitality Services Team Member (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
Game Day Experience Hospitality Services Team Member will play a vital role in the success of the football and baseball hospitality program at JAX STATE. The Hospitality Services team serves as goodwill ambassadors to JSU's top donors, their guests, and all fans on game day. Team members will ensure operational policies are maintained for all Game Day areas to include stadium, parking lots, vehicles, tailgates, suites, and club levels. The Hospitality Services team also serves as the liaison between donors, caterers, maintenance staff, custodial staff, athletic department personnel, parking services, transportation, management, and hospitality staff. The duties of the University Student Aid Police Communications Officer are to operate assigned radio frequencies, perform 9-1-1 and Alabama Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (A.L.E.T.S.) duties, operate the Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD), maintain records and files, comply with all rules and regulations of the Police Department and University, must be able to maintain confidentiality of information, assist with operational and administrative tasks, along with additional duties as required by the department. University Student Assistant - SSC Peer Tutor - Tutoring Services (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
Provides tutoring to individuals and small groups in the Student Success Center (SSC) located in the Houston Cole Library, 2nd floor. The SSC tutoring program is CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certified. If hired, students are expected to complete 10 hours of training. This position assists students in improving academic achievement, supports students by reviewing and clarifying learning problems, and provides useful study skills to students who need supplemental help. Additionally, peer tutors provide subject-area knowledge and serve as a model for students in the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs that successful learners employ as they acquire new knowledge, solve problems, and complete academic tasks. Tutors may also provide drop-in tutoring assistance to students based on requests for academic assistance. Tutors must possess knowledge of subject area material beyond a basic level; have excellent communication skills; the ability to provide an active learning experience for students by explaining difficult concepts and providing examples for explorations. Other assistance might include reviewing class material and discussing the text and course content. University Student Assistant - SSC 2nd Floor Front Desk Assistant (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The duties of a front desk assistant in the Student Success Center (SSC) are to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, direct students to the appropriate tutor or staff member in the SSC, ensure that students are checked in/out of JSU Navigate, and to assist with monitoring the SSC 2nd floor. Front desk assistants must have strong communication skills and should be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Understanding and compliance of FERPA is mandatory. Front desk assistants must be available for all mandatory training sessions, meetings, and workshops. They must be flexible and available to work outside of their class schedules, they must be dependable, and they must be punctual for their shifts. All SSC front desk assistants are expected to work well with their peers in an academic environment, and they must be willing to work with a diverse population. Knowledge of the SSC, academic support, tutoring, student resources, and other campus service departments is expected. Graduate Teaching Assistant - Mathematical, Computing, and Information Sciences, Mathematics (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in the Mathematical, Computing, and Informational Sciences – Mathematics department assists faculty by teaching lower-level courses or labs; developing teaching materials; and preparing and grading examinations, papers, or other student work. The GTAs must be assigned to and responsible for teaching a credit bearing course and will be under the supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching field. A GTA’s work with students will be closely supervised and must provide opportunities to gain teaching skills and a better grasp of the academic discipline. The supervising faculty member is responsible for overseeing the assignment of all grades to students in the courses.
