Assistant Professor, Music Theory Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in music theory beginning August 2025. The primary duties of the successful candidate will be to teach courses in the core undergraduate Music Theory curriculum. The Department welcomes applications from candidates qualified to teach in the Western classical canon. Other teaching areas may include non-Western music and/or popular or commercial music. The successful candidate will accomplish scholarly/creative activity sufficient for tenure and advancement and engage in appropriate service.
Assistant Coach, Volleyball Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Assistant Volleyball Coach provides administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services under the direction of the head coach. Employment in this position is contingent upon compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA and Conference affiliation.
Graduate Teaching Assistant - University Band (Fall 2025) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in the Music Department assists faculty by teaching lower-level courses or labs; developing teaching materials; and preparing and grading examinations, papers, or other student work. The GTAs must be assigned to and responsible for teaching a credit bearing course and will be under the supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching field. A GTA’s work with students will be closely supervised and must provide opportunities to gain teaching skills and a better grasp of the academic discipline. The supervising faculty member is responsible for overseeing the assignment of all grades to students in the courses. Positions will be filled based on individual applicant’s skills, qualification, and departmental needs. University Student Assistant - Student Media Business Manager (Summer 2025 - Spring 2026) Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
The Student Media Business Manager supports the operation of Jax State’s student media outlets – The Chanticleer and WLJS 91.9 FM – by developing financial support appropriate for each outlet. Specifically, the business manager helps the WLJS program director develop and manage relationships with businesses, nonprofit groups, individuals, and other entities to develop support for WLJS 91.9 FM, JSU’s student-run radio station, across all its platforms, which may include terrestrial broadcasting, digital streaming audio, podcasts, the web, social media and other forms of media. The business manager maintains contact with existing patrons and advertisers and initiates contact with potential new patrons and advertisers to develop financial and other forms of support for WLJS and The Chanticleer in their mission to serve JSU students and the broader university community. The business manager also manages the sale and publication of advertising for The Chanticleer across all its platforms, which may include the web, social media, print and other forms of media. As a member of the student media staff, the business manager works closely with the other student staff members and with the director of student media. The business manager also must be or become familiar with FCC requirements pertaining to WLJS’s broadcast license and help ensure compliance with those requirements from the student staff and in the station’s agreements with patrons. The business manager also must be or become familiar with ethical and legal issues around the publication of advertising in student media. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
Coordinator, Undergraduate Recruitment Communication Jacksonville, AL (Main Campus)
As a member of the admissions team, the Coordinator of Undergraduate Recruitment Communication develops engaging messages for prospective undergraduate students (both domestic and international), their parents and supporters, school counselors, and other audiences. This role involves creating clear, concise, and strategic messages to encourage action. The coordinator also assists in developing and maintaining recruitment communication plans, a content calendar, and a style guide, while measuring and enhancing communication effectiveness. Additionally, they will assist the Associate Director of Recruitment Communication and Technology in overseeing the student staff.
