Major Gifts Officer VC-University Advancement
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Principal & Leadership Gifts and Campaign Director, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for developing managing, implementing, and overseeing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of approximately 100-150 prospective leadership gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will create individualized solicitation plans leading to major outright and deferred gifts of $50,000+, integrating unrestricted and restricted gifts, endowment, annual and capital gifts in support of UMass Boston’s fund raising priorities. Responsibilities will most significantly include the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects for the University. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a fundraiser for University-wide targeted initiatives and will work closely with colleagues in University Advancement, Dean’s, faculty and senior administrators in developing and implementing key fund raising strategies and activities.

The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications and nominations for a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to serve as the Dr. J. Keith Motley Endowed Chair in Sport Leadership and Administration and Director of the New Balance Institute for Innovative Leadership in Sport. This distinguished appointment combines academic leadership of a nationally recognized Bachelor of Arts program in Sport Leadership and Administration (SLA) with directorship of the New Balance Institute for Innovative Leadership in Sport. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership at the intersection of scholarship, teaching, program development, and equity-driven innovation in sport.
Assistant Professor Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies
The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure track assistant position beginning September 1, 2026. This position will support our undergraduate minor in Queer and Transgender Studies. We are seeking a scholar-educator with expertise in Black Feminisms, Black Queer Studies, Black Trans Studies, Queer of Color Critique, Indigenous Studies, and/or Transnational Feminisms.
University Police Sergeant Public Safety
Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 253 of the Acts of 2020 (“An Act Relative to Justice, Equity and Accountability in Law Enforcement in the Commonwealth”), the position of: The University Police Sergeant position is a regulated by the Massachusetts Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). University Police Sergeants are appointed as sworn police officers pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapter 75, section 32A and chapter 90C which grants University Police Sergeants the same authority, immunities and privileges as a duly appointed and qualified sworn police officer acting elsewhere in the Commonwealth. Under the general supervision of the University Police Lieutenant, a Sergeant patrols assigned areas of property used, owned or occupied by the University of Massachusetts and areas adjacent to the university to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community by means of an alert and vigilant preventive patrol. Patrol Sergeants provide first- line supervision of the activities of sworn and/or non-sworn personnel on a shift, who are engaged in patrol duty, bike patrol, criminal investigations, community relations, crime prevention activities, and in-service training activities. An employee in this class frequently participates in the work performed by subordinate officers and is responsible for performing related duties as required. The Patrol Sergeant’s primary responsibility is to ensure the effective performance of duty by patrol personnel. Patrol Sergeants work independently in performing regularly assigned duties and assumes complete charge in the event of the absence of a superior officer. Work is performed in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as university and departmental policies, procedures, and general orders. Work is reviewed by inspection, through verbal and written reports, and by results achieved.
Liaison Librarian (I-IV) Healey Library
Reporting to the ROI Department Head in Healey Library under the direction of the AUL for Academic Engagement, and working closely with colleagues in ROI, the AUL for Collections and other library units, the Liaison Librarian provides in-depth library research and instructional support at the University of Massachusetts Boston. This full-time position will collaborate with colleagues in the library and across campus to instruct, engage and support the nearly 17,000 students, and 1,100 faculty in the full range of library resources and services, on and off campus.  Each librarian in the unit will teach information literacy sessions and workshops in General Education, but each will also have subject specialty areas on which they will focus for other workshops, and will also contribute to Collections activities, such as communicating faculty suggestions to the Head of Collections, sharing in review and trials of databases, and related activities.
