Assistant Professor - Power Systems Engineering
The Department of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Engineering, beginning September 1, 2026. We seek dynamic and innovative candidates with strong research records who can build and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded applied research program in Electrical Engineering. While applications over a wide range of specialties are encouraged, the successful candidate will enhance or strategically complement ongoing efforts within the Engineering department. We are particularly interested in the areas of power systems, power electronics, electric motors and drives, power apparatus and protection, materials for energy applications, smart grids, renewable energy systems, and wireless power transfer.
Assistant/Associate Professor (Educational Leadership/Community Schools) Leadership in Education
The Leadership in Education Department in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor to begin September 1, 2026, in the Educational Leadership for Social Justice Program. We are specifically looking for a collaborative, equity-minded, scholar whose research agenda focuses on transformative and culturally sustaining leadership particularly as it relates to the development, implementation, and/or continuous improvement of community schools.
Community Service Officer Public Safety
A Community Service Officer (CSO) is an unarmed, uniformed security position, and is a non-sworn (civilian) member of the UMass Boston Police Department (UMBPD). With a strong emphasis on community engagement, CSO’s are responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist the (UMBPD) with its campus safety and community policing efforts. CSO’s assist UMBPD to make connections between students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community. The incumbent of this position enforces university policy, by-laws, the student code of conduct, and performs other non-criminal police related duties such as: community engagement and outreach; patrolling the campus on foot and/or be assigned to a designated post; provides direction, general information, and resources to the public, issuing parking tickets; performing walking escorts; respond to non-criminal complaints, building checks and other duties assigned. CSO’s are essential employees that do not carry firearms and have no powers of arrest.
