This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Contribute towards the end-to-end development, testing, maintenance, and integrating applications/systems.
- Improve existing processes.
- Maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications — primarily small-to-moderate scope changes (e.g., expanding transaction thresholds, adding fields) that require touching multiple integration points across a 40+ year old system.
- Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to interpret decades-old system logic with limited or incomplete documentation.
- Participate in a rotating production support schedule (one week primary / one week secondary / one week off) supporting nightly batch processing, typically within a 4:00–7:00 PM window.
- Ability to fill various roles (e.g. individual contributor, leader, teacher, mentor)
- Gain understanding of supported business unit(s) and awareness of related objectives and challenges.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Professionally solved challenges for full-stack application development and implementation over the past three years or more including: COBOL, DB2, SQL, JCL, Control-M, Topaz, and overall mainframe knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability — called out by the hiring manager as the single most important trait for this role, given the need to safely modify complex, undocumented legacy logic.
- Working knowledge of TSO / ISPF for z/OS.
- Experience with file transfer protocols (e.g.. FTP, SFTP, Co:Z, NDM)
- Collaborative approach and a willingness to work with team members.
- Driven to learn new technologies through research and investigation.
- Willingness to learn business systems and processes.
- You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
- Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with Stored Procedures, ACE, and integration a plus.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
