Technician, Rigging - Universal Horror Unleashed

Universal Horror Unleashed is a terrifyingly unique experience that will bring haunts to Las Vegas year-round. Located at Area 15 is the heart of horror – we would love to have you haunting alongside us! With the nature of this experience comes a unique working environment. You will find yourself working in dark environments around special effects including strobe lights, fog, artificial smells, and more. The working hours will be unique, typically spanning over late evenings/nights and weekends (holidays included). JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the highly skilled, discipline specific, technical operations of Rigging within Universal Horror Unleashed. Completes installations, routine maintenance, and repairs to ensure show quality and a positive guest experience. Ensures safety of self, guests, and other Team Members by taking proper safety precautions, following both state and company specific standards. Provides installations assistance for any set changes/special events, ensuring proper installation from a safety and design perspective. Conducts and completes daily, weekly and annual inspections of all technical and entertainment harnesses and life safety equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as key Rigging technical expert for Universal Horror Unleashed (UHU). Installs, operates, and maintains all rigging equipment as designed. Completes routine maintenance and inspections for all rigging equipment to ensure safety standards and proper daily operation and maintains rigging equipment, raising safety concerns when necessary.
  • Ensures that all rigging equipment functions safely during rehearsals and performances, per UDX and equipment specifications. Responsible to execute assigned tasks given from Technical Lead/Supervisor with minimal direction. Accurately completes installations/repairs and troubleshoots when necessary. Orders new or replacement rigging equipment as per the company’s safety and procurement policies. Inspects and ensures all 3rd party/vendor acts’ equipment is safe to use in  venue.
  • Assists with daily maintenance of UHU in order to ensure all Technical equipment is operational and functioning properly. Assists in implementing show quality and performance standards as defined by Entertainment and Technical Management. Assists with creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information, pertaining to the technical operation of UHU to both upper management and affected Team Members. Completes necessary reporting through the proper systems including Maximo to ensure effective communication between shifts as well as with Technical Management and Technical Coordinators.
  • Maintains a basic working knowledge of Rigging, ANSI standards and OSHA performer flying requirements while staying up to date with industry standards, tools, technologies to find more efficient ways to operate. Completes all state and company mandated training and maintains any required license renewals.  
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

  • Previous experience working with a Rigging Team and in-depth knowledge of all rigging and acrobatic equipment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Local and state required licenses including OSHA 10, Aerial work platform, Scissor Lift License, and Fall Protection.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Associate’s degree in Technical field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of high and ground rigging as well as performer/aerial rigging experience is required; 1+ years lift operating experience is required; 1+ years of experience within the professional entertainment or themed entertainment industry is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
