About the Department:
UD Botanic Gardens contributes to an understanding of the changing relationships between plants and people through education, extension, research, and community support.

Role Description:
Students are expected to be highly motivated, hard-working, dependable able to work in groups and independently. There is no required Horticulture experience necessary! Students will work individually and in groups to accomplish the goals set forth for the summer.  Students will take field trips to local public gardens to further their experience in public horticulture.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Students will work outside performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks, such as mowing, weed control, pruning, planting, hardscape installation, etc.  Additionally, they will develop specialized skills such as curatorial work, detailed pruning and propagation.

Qualifications:

No horticultural experience is necessary, students should be able to work in high temperatures outdoors and be prepared to lift 50lbs.

Requirements:

For students hoping to complete this internship for course credit: this summer we will offer 330 working hours, if the course you are taking requires more, we can be sure to get you to the necessary number!

Timeline for Hiring:

February 10th: Application Review 

February 17th: Candidates notified of interview 

March 1st and onwards : In-person interviews scheduled and offers extended
