Associate Director, Development & Alumni Relations - 2 Positions Available

Responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and donors oriented to a specific academic college. One position will support the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science and the other will support the College of Arts and Sciences. The Associate Director  will cultivate meaningful relationships and facilitate all phases of the gift cycle. Will collaborate with the Director to develop and lead elements of an overall fundraising program. 1. Manage a portfolio of assigned prospects to solicit and close major gifts for college priorities. Focus work on solicitations of $100,000 or more and gift closures of $50,000 or more
*Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of assigned prospects to secure financial support for college and University priorities
*Develop and execute plans for the qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects by assessing capacity, passions, interests and inclination
*Align work to meet annual goals, as established and communicated by Manager
*Prepare compelling customized and standardized proposals, correspondence, and reports for prospective donors
*Maintain an active schedule of meetings with major gift prospects, averaging 8 to 10 such meetings per month, or commensurate with individual goals outlined for the position
*Prepare gift proposals and grant applications for individuals, corporations and foundations as necessary
*Collate and interpret available research data pertinent to the development of relationships with potential donors
*Facilitate or staff campus visits, tours, cultivation events and meetings for assigned prospects
*Prepare briefing materials that are supportive of the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects
*Work closely with the Prospect Management & Research team to ensure prospect research for assigned prospects is up to date and that the portfolio is optimized to achieve financial and other goals

2. Assist and collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and lead annual fundraising programs and engagement plans for the college
*Work with the Director of Development to develop annual fundraising plans, including opportunities to identify and solicit new prospects and donors
*Take a leadership role in recruitment, engagement, solicitation and management of specific projects, programs and volunteer leadership groups; projects could include annual affinity-based fundraising efforts from alumni, select development events, key stewardship and communications projects, annual giving opportunities, etc.
*Meet regularly with college leadership, including the Dean, Department Chairs and Program Directors to coordinate, plan and execute fundraising strategies
*Assist in recruitment, training and management of key fundraising volunteers and work with volunteer committees and councils to plan and implement development activities
*Assist Regional Gift Officers with individual prospect activity, utilizing knowledge of the college, faculty and other resources to accelerate the solicitation and closing of major gifts
*Work closely with partners in Alumni Relations to develop and utilize engagement opportunities that aim to deepen overall alumni engagement for the college while also driving the identification of new major gift prospects

3. Maintain and facilitate effective reports, records and accounting
*Document activity with donors in a timely manner through contact reports and pipeline updates
*Ensure that gifts are recorded properly and in accordance with accounting standards and University policies; troubleshoot when discrepancies are discovered
*Develop, maintain and provide reports on assigned projects and performance of pipeline, prospect activity and fundraising for assigned projects of the college -- independently and/or in collaboration with internal development partners

Special Considerations

The duties of this position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by their supervisor 

Ability to work evenings and/or weekends during peak periods

This position is responsible for driving university-owned vehicles as a routine function, therefore a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record is required


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Three to five years related work experience 

Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a high level of customer service required

Ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional relationships 

Integrity, supported by a proven record of delivering results 

Strong analytical and problem solving abilities

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
