Provides crisis and grief counseling when needed and makes appropriate referrals. Responsible for developing and implementing educational programs for the community physicians as well as interdisciplinary staff at UH. The Genetic Counselor has a role in case management as they assist in making referrals to sub specialists, community services, resources and identifying financial coverage and authorization of services based upon individual patient needs. Interventions involve a disciplined application of professional knowledge related to genetic technologies, theories and resources for a broad range of problems.
