The Student Counseling Social Worker provides initial clinical assessment, long and short-term psychotherapeutic and counseling interventions, group psychotherapy, post-crisis coordination of ongoing clinical care (there is no after-hours on-call requirement), outreach, and preventative programming to student clients of the Student Counseling Service at Upstate Medical University. The Student Counseling Service serves medical, nursing, health professions, and graduate students from all four colleges of the University.

In this position, the social worker is assigned to provide coverage to the 18-bed Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. The unit serves youth ages 5-17 who require short-term, acute inpatient treatment. The social worker provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, intervention, management, support, and assess for discharge planning and aftercare needs of the at-risk patient population and their families. Psychologist Syracuse
SUNY Upstate is seeking clinical psychologists to join a new Integrated Behavioral Health Care program, which is set to launch with the completion of a new state of the art clinical space at the Nappi Wellness Institute in early 2023. Working within a collaborative, team-based and integrated care model, the psychologists will be deployed in the pediatric and adolescent Clinic to provide direct service, consultation and training. Briefer problem-focused interventions are emphasized focusing on common mental health problems, substance abuse, and the psychosocial aspects of chronic health conditions. The psychologists will work side by side with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care managers, and other disciplines in a dynamic team environment.
