Job/Department Summary:

Working independently, under the general direction of the Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Sciences Program Director (MESA), the Associate Director assists with the recruitment and retention of MEP students. Incumbent mentors and coaches students, providing guidance, in one-on-one and group settings, of a highly complex nature, where guidelines and policies may not exist; develops student success plans that are multifaceted and cross interdisciplinary lines; conducts student orientation activities; oversees tutoring program (5-6 Tutors); serves as the MEP advisor to student organizations; maintains, tracks and manages statistics related to MEP program and prepares relevant reports and supplementary materials; conducts day-to-day administrative functions for the MEP office; conducts outreach activities; and develops creative solutions to support economically disadvantaged students, pursuing post-secondary education.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Bilingual.
  • Experience working with faculty advisors.
  • Experience developing training/workshops for students and student employees.
  • Master’s degree in a related field, STEM Field preferable.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND
Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

  • A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
    Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30. 

Salary and Benefits Information:

$4,691 - $6,683 per month / $56,292 - $80,196 annually (Initial placement within the salary range for new employees is contingent upon education and experience). 

This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver (if eligible).
