Job/Department Summary:
The mission of the Equal Opportunity and Dispute Resolution (EODR) office is to ensure that the University’s implementation of equal opportunity and other compliance laws promotes and furthers the University’s priority of equity, diversity, and inclusion. EODR is charged with providing vision, leadership, and support to the University as it works to achieve its goal of being a welcoming and caring campus where all members of the University family belong. As part of the EODR office, the Director of Adaptive Dispute Resolutions will develop, implement, and manage an Adaptive Resolution program built on the theory of restorative justice for bias incidents or other Title IX/DHR based harm. The will develop and ensure delivery of proactive preventative education programs intended to reduce incidents of Title IX and DHR related harm. Provide supportive measures for individuals involved in bias or other Title IX/DHR matters.
The Adaptive Resolution program will serve the entire campus by providing dispute resolution facilitation on bias and Title IX/DHR matters with a goal to maintain and enhance healthy relationships. Using restorative justice concepts as the foundation, the Director will provide guidance to all members of our campus on how to manage professional and personal differences, disputes, and issues which may constitute violations of the Student Conduct Code (Title 5) or violations of the CSU Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation (Nondiscrimination Policy).
The Director is responsible for campus community education on Restorative Justice, Bystander Intervention, Bias Incidents and DHR/Title IX Policies.
Mandatory Vaccinations:
The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.
Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Advanced degree from an accredited university and/or college
- Prior experience in facilitating/mediating the organization response to and resolution of problems and conflicts related to bias incidents or micro/macro-aggressions
- Five or more year of experience in facilitating/mediating the resolution of problems and conflicts
- Completion or certificate of training for restorative practices, racial healing, conflict management, or similar training
- Experience in higher education institution environment
- Bilingual in a language common in our service area
Required Education and Experience:
Must possess the education and experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments in this position.
AND
Three or more years of experience in formally facilitating/mediating the resolution of problems and conflicts.
Time Base: Full-time- 1.0
Pay Plan: 12/12
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $54,996 - $176,556 per year.
Anticipated Hiring Range: Not expected to exceed $85,000 per year. Salary commensurate with education and experience of the individual selected.

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a “designated position” under the California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
