IT Project Manager (Administrator I) Chico
The Chico State IT Project Manager oversees assigned projects while serving as a mentor and leader within the Project and Change Management Office (PCMO). Reporting to the Director of PCMO, this position ensures the consistent application of best practices across the project portfolio, including scope definition, planning, organization, execution, status reporting, and effective use of project management tools and templates. The IT Project Manager monitors the overall health of the project portfolio and supports timely delivery by helping develop and maintain a consistent, repeatable project management methodology. The role includes advising Project Managers on technical and resource challenges and assisting the Director in translating campus project management needs into actionable initiatives for the PCMO. At Chico State, the role extends beyond traditional project management functions. The PCMO integrates Organizational Change Management and Business Process Transformation into its work. In this capacity, the IT Project Manager incorporates change management principles throughout project delivery and promotes a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with the Director, the incumbent helps ensure projects optimize business processes and advance the university’s strategic priorities. This position manages projects from initiation through completion, supports resource coordination, contributes to portfolio and process development, and facilitates alignment between customer expectations, project requirements, and resource capacity. The IT Project Manager is accountable for achieving project objectives and ensuring clear communication of progress, risks, issues, and performance metrics.
