Position Description

 

Job Summary

Extended Education is a self-support unit under the direction of the Dean for Extended Education. Reporting to the Dean, this position is responsible for the coordination of enrollment processes and maintenance/reporting of large volumes of student records data. Responsibilities include enhancing efficiency of scheduling and registration processes; acting as department lead for PeopleSoft Student Administration module; producing queries and providing reports on student enrollment data; and providing customer service and support for Extended Education students, campus partners, and community.

Department Summary

Cal Poly’s Extended Education Program expands the opportunities for students at and outside of the CSU. Educational programs and workshops are available to fulfill credit, and are available during the summer. The courses offered range from life and experience classes to math and science.

Key Qualifications

1. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. Ability to establish strong cross-departmental working relationships to gain support of department initiatives and projects.
2. Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
3. Possesses excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple functions and assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines and frequent interruptions.
4. Ability to train and provide lead work direction.
5. Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. One year of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $53,800 - $65,000 per year

Classification Range: $39,456 - $76,164 per year
