Job Summary
The Financial Aid Office is responsible for the determination of eligibility for and awarding of federal, state, institutional and private grants, scholarships, and work and loan programs in excess of $150M annually to over 13,000 eligible students. The office is responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements as outlined in federal and state regulations as well as donor and institutional policies and for assuring compliance by the University. The Financial Aid Office serves the University by assisting students in obtaining financial aid and scholarships to attend Cal Poly. The Office's primary function is to provide appropriate financial aid based on federal and state parameters and in keeping with CSU and Cal Poly institutional policies.
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, this position serves as the initial contact via phone, in-person and email correspondence for current and prospective students and their families as well as general public inquires; does document in-take; and completes necessary reviews of financial aid files to ensure accuracy of awards and disbursement of financial aid.

Key Qualifications
- Provides information and guidance by answering questions via in-person, phone, email and other electronic means regarding both general and specific financial aid concerns that includes but is not limited to federal, state and institutional aid programs, aid eligibility, the loan application process, how to navigate the portal and access financial aid information.
- Serve as point of contact for PLUS loan denials and resolutions.
- Assist in document creation and maintenance, including electronic forms in Adobe Sign.
- Review and complete citizenship and selective service documents. Access DHS website to confirm permanent resident status when needed.

Education and Experience
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field. One year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
- Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.
- Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $51,228 - $56,000 Per Year
Classification Range: $51,228 - $72,480 Per Year
