Position Description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management and working collaboratively within and beyond the Division, this position advances the mission of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness through responsibility for the extraction, integration, analysis, and reporting of institutional data across the areas described above and in support of campus priorities. Responsibilities include maintaining and querying large-scale datasets and relational databases using structured query and statistical programming languages; managing, validating, and transforming complex data structures; and responding to institutional data and research requests with timely, accurate, analytically rigorous, and reproducible outputs.

Department Summary

The effective synthesis, integration, and advanced analysis of data generated across the academic enterprise and administrative divisions is essential to evidence-based decisions that affect the entire university. Within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (SEMSA), the Office of Institutional Effectiveness serves as the university’s lead enterprise analytics and decision-support office, advancing key strategic priorities through rigorous analysis, modeling, and institutional analytics. In close coordination with other SEMSA units, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness leads the analytical and forecasting functions that underpin enrollment planning and management and guides the strategy informing campus-wide enrollment and student success initiatives.

Key Qualifications

  • Expert quantitative reasoning and applied statistical competence, including advanced proficiency in structured query and statistical programming languages to extract, transform, validate, manage, and analyze large-scale institutional datasets and data warehouse environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of student information systems, higher education data structures, and enterprise data environments, including the ability to integrate data from multiple institutional sources and manage student-level administrative data.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex analytical studies, including development of conceptual frameworks, research design, variable selection, data modeling, and interpretation of results using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.
  • Expert knowledge of statistical methodologies, predictive modeling, forecasting techniques, and data mining approaches, with demonstrated ability to develop original analytic code in support of operational and strategic institutional needs.
  • Ability to independently identify data inconsistencies, resolve data integrity issues, and ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and compliance with data governance standards across all analytical outputs.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $91,524 - $111,564 Per Year

Classification Range: $76,548 - $111,564 Per Year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
