| The Lab Safety Specialist supports the University’s research enterprise by administering specialized programs in chemical hygiene, biosafety, radiation safety, and laser safety and by serving in formally designated Chemical Hygiene Officer, Biosafety Officer, and Radiation Safety Officer roles, as authorized. The position evaluates research activities and grant applications, interprets and applies CSU and federal and state regulatory requirements, recommends appropriate safety controls, coordinates corrective actions, and provides technical consultation and field-based services to faculty, staff, and students. This work supports regulatory compliance, maintains institutional authorizations, and promotes the safe conduct of research. These technical designations do not authorize the position to establish or approve institutional policy, depart from regulatory or licensing requirements, or make final institutional decisions concerning disputed, novel, significant, or unusually high-risk matters, which are referred to the Director, responsible institutional committee, or other appropriate authority. The role of the position is to support a safe working and learning environment for the campus community. |

| The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is an academic department within the College of Health that offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in speech-language pathology. The graduate program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Operating under the auspices of the department, the Rees Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic provides professional clinical training for students enrolled in the program. The clinic offers a variety of services to individuals with communication disorders who reside in communities throughout the surrounding Bay Area. The department has 6 full-time faculty members, 2 clinic coordinators, 1.5 FTE clinical supervisors, approximately 3-6 intermittent supervisors, 2 administrative support coordinators, and approximately 50–75 clinical educators who serve as internship supervisors. The department serves approximately 120 undergraduate majors and 150 master’s students. Each semester, approximately 120 clients and their family members receive services through the Rees Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic. The purpose of this 0.5 FTE SLP position is to oversee the operations and clinical supervision of the Aphasia Treatment Program (ATP), a group therapy program serving approximately 60–80 clients and their care partners. ATP provides innovative group treatment for individuals with aphasia and offers a rich environment in which they can interact with peers, graduate student clinicians, trained volunteers, and program faculty. ATP also serves as a platform for interprofessional education and collaboration with other departments at Cal State East Bay. |
