Area Coordinator (SSP II) East Bay
Serving as a student-facing member of the Division of Student Affairs, the work of the Area Coordinator (AC) is structured to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Priorities of the university. Employed by the Department of University Housing and Residence Life (UHRL), the AC is a full-time, 12-month live-in professional staff member. The AC is supervised by the Associate Director of Residence Life but also receives director and support from the Assistant Director or Residence Life.  AC's at Cal State East Bay are expected to initiate "high-touch" front-line interaction with students as they develop formal and informal relationships. They are expected to build communities that focus on student learning and development, support student needs, and inclusivity for all students.  AC's provide direct oversight for their designated residential area and supervise a student staff team. This position does not conform to a standard 9-5 work day and requires the individual to work evenings and weekends to best meet the needs of the community. The AC is responsible for the following areas in their specific residential community: case management centering around student support, crisis management, student conduct, supervision and leadership, curriculum implementation and supporting student success. In addition, the AC assists in the overall development and implementation of University Housing and Residence Life programs and services. The duties of the AC may vary from area to area depending on a number of factors (skill set of the AC, number of supervisees, level of autonomy of residents, size/condition of buildings, nature of floor communities, etc.) but the following covers the general expectations of the position.
BSBA Associate Academic Advisor (SSP II) East Bay
This is an academic advisor position in the College of Business & Economics (CBE) Office of Undergraduate Advising, which offers services designed to support and enhance student success. This position offers comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate students, helping with academic planning, graduation requirements, course substitutions, transfer credit evaluations, and student success initiatives. The role includes closely working with students on academic concerns, ensuring adherence to university policies, and assessing the urgency and complexity of students' needs to refer them to Academic Advisors, Directors, Department Chairs, or other relevant campus resources when necessary. Additional duties involve processing petitions and co-managing internal advising projects. Occasionally, the role may require advising representation at events held at other institutions. This position will collaborate closely with the Director of the CBE Office of Undergraduate Advising to maintain up-to-date advising information for incoming students, develop and oversee new student presentations and workshops, and ensure the CBE Undergraduate Advising Office emails are current.
