The engineer responds to service requests, maintains swimming pools, and keeps detailed logs of maintenance activities. |

| Working independently with general supervision, the incumbent performs the full range of skilled plumbing duties as defined in the CSU Classification and Qualification Standard for the Plumber Series. Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodeling, and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures supporting water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related systems. This work is performed to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive learning environment. The position requires sound judgment and decision-making based on established maintenance practices. Incumbents may also provide instruction and lead direction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants.
Some positions may be assigned water treatment responsibilities, including monitoring, testing, and the chemical treatment of potable and/or non-potable water systems. These assignments require possession of the appropriate water treatment certification.
