Department of Communication & Media Teaching Associate (TA) Pool	San Bernardino - San Bernardino Campus
Students applying to or currently enrolled in the M.A. in Communication Studies, within the Department of Communication & Media at California State University, San Bernardino, may be eligible to apply for Teaching Associate position each year during their term of study on the master’s degree program. Department of Communication & Media TAs (Teaching Associates) teach COMM 1006 Oral Communication courses, following a successful application process, which involves a formal interview, and after training during the summer sessions (typically in July). The TAs are the instructor of record for their sections of COMM 1006 Oral Communication, and as such are responsible for all aspects of the preparation of the course.

Graduate Assistant work may involve supervising students in a classroom, workshop, or laboratory (where final responsibility for the class and its entire instruction, including the performance of the Graduate Assistant, is vested in a member of the faculty); training students in the use of equipment or other resources; assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials; participating in the evaluation of students’ work; tutoring students; and other related work. Graduate Assistants are not responsible for the instructional content of a course, selecting student assignments, planning of examinations, determining the term grade for students, instructing the entire enrollment of a course, or providing the entire instruction of a group of students enrolled in a course. Graduate Assistants may not be employed to assist in a course in which they are enrolled, nor should they be consulted regarding the grading of their peers.

CSUSB Geology Teaching Associates (TAs) may be responsible for one or more GEOL 1000L Introductory Geology Laboratory sections, or may support a faculty member in an upper division geology class. TAs teaching GEOL 1000L are solely responsible for their assigned section(s), including being present in person for all class meetings during the semester, being available for meetings with the laboratory coordinator and other teaching assistants, maintaining the shared lab space including cleaning up after assigned lab sections, assessing student work, and meeting with students outside of class during regularly scheduled office hours. TAs supporting an upper division geology class will work with the faculty member teaching the class to determine the TA responsibilities.
