Under general direction, the Corporal performs a variety of general law enforcement duties. Work assignments typically require the incumbent to exercise independent judgment and action. Incumbents typically perform general law enforcement work that includes some or all of the following: patrolling campus buildings and grounds on foot or vehicle; maintaining order; enforcing laws, rules and regulations; apprehending and processing violators; initiating police action; preparing and presenting oral and written reports; providing assistance to campus personnel, students and the public in public safety matters; and serving as the lead or senior member on a campus patrol operation. The Corporal rank is distinguished from the Police Officer by the regular, ongoing assignments of one or more of the following: assignment as a team leader, assistant watch commander or patrol agent responsible for leading a shift and providing direction to officers in the field. The Corporal performs special assignments on a regular, ongoing basis including, but not limited to: Field Training Officer (FTO), investigator/detective, crime prevention specialist, and/or community relations specialist. The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

*CURRENT CSU SYSTEM-WIDE APPLICANTS ONLY* Working independently under general supervision of the Director of Practicum Education, the Practicum Placement Coordinator performs moderately complex professional Student Services work including the coordination and facilitation of practicum placements for students; collaboration with community-based practicum agency personnel, and implementation of School of Social Work, campus, state and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation policies and regulations as they relate to student practicum placements. The Practicum Placement Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the Practicum Education placement tracking database and assistance with the Practicum Instructor training program. This position will also work with the Practicum Team on practicum orientations and outreach activities. This position also carries its own cohort of approximately 40 BSW advisees, which entails meeting with students to evaluate transfer credits; advising students on course selection, program requirements, degree progress, career planning, and graduate school applications; compiling and analyzing information and reports when appropriate. The SSP II will lend direct support to the Practicum Education program and assist in the development and administration of policies and procedures related to practicum placements.
