This position performs and assists in backstage technical operations for University Theatre events, including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, and general stage production support. Aids in mounting departmental productions and servicing external events by constructing and setting up technical systems such as scenery, props, and effects. Supports backstage and shop operations, helps train and guide student assistants in the safe and proper use of equipment and materials, and ensures facilities and equipment are maintained. Candidates with the ability to teach cinematography and/or sound design preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the new BFA in Media Arts and help shape its future direction. We are particularly interested in candidates who engage with hybrid or collaborative practices that intersect with Animation, Design, Sound, Photography, or other emerging media fields. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in filmmaking and a strong ability to teach across at least one additional emphasis area within the program—Animation, Design, Sound, or Photography.
