Business Librarian

| The Business Librarian at Cal Poly is a tenure-track faculty member responsible for aligning library services with the university’s "Learn by Doing" mission. Primary responsibilities include serving as the lead liaison to the Orfalea College of Business where they support undergraduate and graduate programs across the San Luis Obispo, Solano, and community college 2+2 degree contexts. Additionally, the Business Librarian plays a lead liaison role for Agribusiness in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, supporting hands-on, interdisciplinary programs that integrate quantitative analysis and industry engagement. The role involves active collaboration with faculty and students to meet accreditation and curricular priorities. In addition to discipline-specific duties, the position entails participation in library-wide strategic initiatives, and a formal program of scholarship and creative work. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to professional scholarship and service, meeting the university’s requirements for tenure and promotion through active engagement in the field. Kennedy Library recognizes that candidates may have acquired relevant experience in a variety of ways. We expect candidates to be stronger in some required qualifications than others. | This tenure-line faculty position at Cal Poly focuses on the strategic assessment and sustainable growth of library collections. The Collection Strategies Librarian leverages data and emerging technologies to build representative, inclusive collections that support a broad range of academic disciplines and research methods. Working under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Collections, Systems, and Digital Strategy, the role prioritizes equitable access and sustainable licensing in a global information landscape.
