Assistant Director, Energy, Sustainability and Transportation Chancellor's Office
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking an Assistant Director, Energy, Sustainability, and Transportation to be responsible for overseeing the administrative and programmatic elements of the ES&T unit, including revision of existing and development of new policies for climate action, energy efficiency, and climate resiliency. The position will develop and update associated guidance and procedures to implement comprehensive sustainable and climate resilient practices that support continuous improvement across all university operations. This includes creating and developing programs and platforms that support campus initiatives to implement, guide, manage, assess, benchmark, and monitor progress of the Board of Trustee’s sustainability policy that span across multiple, diverse areas of the university including but not limited to: Campus Operations and Maintenance, Campus Planning, Campus Construction, Campus Climate Impact Adaptation and Resiliency Planning, and foster strategic partnerships with Academics and Student Affairs and external partners for community engagement and regulatory compliance. Facilitate, coordinate, and provide guidance for all aspects of sustainable practices across the diverse campuses of the California State University System. The position will serve as the programmatic and administrative leader within ES&T to ensure extensive contracting and program development is on track and on target with the unit and CSU mission. Administrative responsibilities will include funding strategies, energy contracting, and shared services program. The position will also be the delegated authority over the ES&T unit in the chief’s absence.

Light Automotive Equipment Operator (2 Positions) East Bay
The Light Automotive Equipment Operator primarily performs skilled operation of light automotive vehicles and equipment in support of campus grounds and maintenance operations. The incumbent operates equipment and vehicles typical of this classification, including light-duty (two-axle) trucks, riding mowers, small wheel-type tractors with attachments, sweepers, utility vehicles, and small loaders within standard capacity limits. The position’s primary function is the safe and efficient operation of light automotive and grounds maintenance equipment, with responsibility for performing routine servicing and minor maintenance such as safety inspections, fluid checks, and basic adjustments to ensure proper working conditions. The incumbent reports equipment malfunctions and coordinates needed repairs. In support of equipment operation, the incumbent performs a range of grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, watering, and debris removal, as well as assisting with campus beautification and seasonal projects. Manual labor duties are performed in connection with equipment use, including loading and unloading materials. Work is performed in accordance with established safety practices, campus procedures, and applicable California Vehicle Code requirements. Equipment operated and duties performed are consistent with light automotive equipment as defined within the Equipment Operation Series and do not typically involve the operation of heavy construction equipment or vehicles exceeding the scope of this classification.

Under general direction, the Corporal performs a range of law enforcement duties to ensure the safety and security of the Chico State campus community. Responsibilities include patrolling campus buildings and grounds by foot or vehicle; maintaining public order; enforcing laws and regulations; responding to vehicle collisions and emergencies; apprehending violators; gathering evidence; and preparing clear oral and written reports. Corporals may testify in court and assist students, employees, and visitors on public safety matters. In this lead role, the Corporal may supervise officers in the absence of a Sergeant and ensure actions are legally and constitutionally sound. Corporals may rotate through assignments and, when designated, serve in specialized roles such as investigator, crime prevention officer, or community relations specialist. They may also develop and deliver training in accordance with department and POST standards. The University Police Department (UPD) provides 24/7 law enforcement, security, and emergency response. Staffed by sworn officers, civilian personnel, and auxiliaries, UPD officers have full statewide police authority. As primary responders to campus emergencies—including medical incidents and environmental hazards—UPD also handles crime reporting and investigations (excluding homicides and missing persons under the Kristin Smart Act).
