The Marine Science Technician performs support services on the vessels, the seawater circulating system, and facility. This position also provides supplies, equipment, and related logistical support to upper and lower division laboratory courses as well as research.
- Perform maintenance and husbandry of the seawater system
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs at the marine facility
- Act as backup deckhand and demonstration technician on board vessel
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must be able to perform routine maintenance and repairs of facility. Must be able to perform routine maintenance of the seawater system. Must have knowledge of safety compliance requirements. Must have general knowledge of facility maintenance requirements.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment related to the discipline required. Equivalent to two years of life support seawater systems maintenance and building maintenance experience. Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED preferred. Transportation Workers Identification Card (as needed) Valid CA driver’s license & clean driving record. Experience in small boats and deck handing desired.

The targeted salary may be set as high as $4,333 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,907 to $6,779 per month.
