Job Summary:  Assist the Police Department supporting the front desk reception area, assisting customers and general office duties.

About the California State University Maritime Academy:

Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.

Cal Maritime offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, International Strategy and Security, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering,  Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.

Job Duties: 

  • Provide and ensure excellent customer service to the university’s community and the public at the front desk, receive and direct visitors; resolve inquiries regarding parking and other matters; and screen and route phone calls.
  • Perform general office duties, including receiving and distributing mail, making copies, faxing, and filing, maintaining office supplies, files, reports, and forms.
  • Delivers parking permits for all department requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to learn and communicate parking rules and regulations, and other guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, and orally communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner.

  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance.
  • Dependable; complete tasks in a timely manner; ready to work at the start of each shift.
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and apply campus rules and regulations related to work performed.
  • Ability to operate in an environment that requires discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to take initiative in developing and improving skills.
  • Must be able to perform work involving but not limited to carrying, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking to and from buildings across campus.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must successfully complete CLETS training.
