Major Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Domestic Undergraduate Admissions, the Transfer Admissions Representative performs a broad range of duties with the support and within the constraints of several computer database systems. The incumbent is responsible for the admission processing of applicant’s transcripts and other documents.

  • Provides public contact support for international and domestic students and the general public by phone and at the reception counter
  • Works cooperatively with the Admissions Advisors and establishes and maintains professional relationships with coworkers, faculty, staff, students, and the campus community.
  • Analyzes application data for admission, log in and scan documents and test scores, interpret and enter data in SOLAR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to four (4) years of full-time, general office clerical and administrative support experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge and abilities listed.
  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for year basis.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; office methods, procedures, and practices; and university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adequately comprehend needs and convey information through both oral and written communication. Ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; and operate standard office equipment and software.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: coordinate many different administrative duties; interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; set deadlines, priorities, and complete projects accordingly; draft and prepare memoranda and correspondence. Ability to keep moderately complex records and files; screen mail, telephone calls, and visitors; maintain confidential files; perform standard business math, track financial data, and make simple projections. Ability to review transcripts, test scores, and application related materials.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to educational equity cultural issues to support partnerships and provide services. Ability to recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relations with University community as well as private and public agencies.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills and the ability to adequately comprehend needs and convey information through both oral and written communication and demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, faculty, staff, students and the campus community. Demonstrates a willingness to assist students, the general public, and fellow employees as needed for the office functioning over the annual Office of Admissions processing cycle.
  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. May require occasional travel.
  • Employee works in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employee may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification: Admin Support Coordinator / 1035 / grade 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3864 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $3864 - $6072 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
