Major Duties

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Membership Specialist develops and administers The Soraya's membership program, executes acquisition and renewal campaigns, coordinates member communications and benefits, tracks revenue performance, maintains CRM records, and collaborates with internal partners to strengthen engagement, increase membership revenue, and enhance the patron experience.

  • Oversees The Soraya’s membership program, including developing levels and benefits, strategizing promotions and appeals to bring in new members, and stewarding current members, frequently communicating with them to address needs and concerns. Is responsible for maintaining relationships with these members and acts as primary customer service liaison. Prioritizes renewing members on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for meeting revenue goals as set by Director of Marketing for the membership program. Solicits the most engaged patrons of The Soraya in order to both sign them up for membership but also increase their attendance at performances through ticket purchases. Tracks revenue against goals, regularly reporting to Director of Marketing revenue figures. Works with Director of Marketing to develop strategies to reach goals. Oversees financial transfer of membership purchases to the CSUN Foundation.
  • Frequently communicates with current, prospective, and lapsed members regarding various opportunities for active members. Collaborates with marketing staff in planning, creating, designing, and deploying communications in coordination with other Soraya communications. Includes but is not limited to seasonal Membership brochure, Membership webpages, Direct Mail, Email, social media, phone etc. Ensures all member information is updated regularly in The Soraya’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Partners with Event Manager, Director of Development, and other staff in the fulfillment of member benefits, including but not limited to invitations to special events, backstage access, ticket requests, acknowledgement, etc. Collaborates with Artist / Programming team to design annual special events calendar.
  • Works with The Soraya and CSUN University Advancement data teams with prospective donors, including The Soraya’s ticket buyers and Alumni and assign them to appropriate campaigns. Works with The Soraya Database Administrator to ensure all Membership Data is up to date in various databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time, progressively responsible technical, analytical, or administrative experience.
  • Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required education, on a year for year basis.

  • Analyzes membership and revenue data to support strategic decision-making and goal attainment.

  • Maintains accurate financial and CRM records with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 1038 / AA/S / Grade 2
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $5274 – $5597 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5274 - $7684 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
