| The Basic Needs Resource Programs Assistant (Programs Assistant) is an SSP IA trainee level appointment working under the lead direction of the Student Health, Counseling & Wellness Services (SHCWS), Basic Needs Resource Center Coordinator (SSP-III) and with direct supervision from the Director of CARES, Basic Needs & Wellness. During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the Programs Assistant is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level. This incumbent will assist with mentoring and providing day-to-day guidance to paid student assistants and staff assigned to the Basic Needs Resource Center, under the supervision of professional staff. The Programs Assistant supports the work of the Basic Needs Resource Center Coordinator in developing, implementing and managing programs and services supporting students’ basic needs. |

In this role, you’ll help plan and deliver a comprehensive orientation experience by coordinating schedules, managing program operations, developing publications, and maintaining digital content. You’ll present to large audiences, collaborate across campus departments, and support the recruitment and supervision of a team of student leaders. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Flexibility for evening and weekend work is essential. The role also steps in to lead the program in the Director’s absence and must demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting a diverse campus community. |

| Founded in 1990 through the leadership of Dr. Otis Scott, Chris Glen, and David Covin, the Cooper-Woodson College Enhancement Program began as an Educational Equity, Pan African Student Retention initiative honoring the legacies of Anna Julia Cooper and Carter G. Woodson and guided by Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. Under general supervision, the Administrative Support Coordinator I supports the CWC Program Director by coordinating projects, events, and day-to-day office operations, including providing lead direction to support staff and student assistants. The role also manages budget and financial transactions, maintains accurate fiscal records, and ensures excellent customer service for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. |
