Assistant Professor - Assistant Writing Programs Administrator San José
The Department of English and Comparative Literature at San José State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor and Assistant Writing Programs Administrator beginning in August 2026. We seek an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition to teach rhetoric and composition courses at the entry and advanced levels and assist in administering the first-year writing programs. The ideal candidate will engage with emerging technologies—particularly AI—and their impact on writing instruction and writing-intensive courses, as well as writing program administration and digital literacy. A developing record of peer-reviewed scholarship, and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, or related field of study is required by August, 2026.
Assistant Professor - Applied Data Science San José
The Department of Applied Data Science at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Data Science beginning in August 2026. We are seeking candidates with expertise in areas such as Embodied AI, robot perception and control, robotics software systems, and multi-modal learning or Cyber Intelligence with a focus on advanced Machine Learning and AI techniques such as Secure AI to contribute to our interdisciplinary applied data science curriculum. The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic, assigned to the Carpentry Shop within the Maintenance & Operations unit of Facilities Development & Operations, works independently or as a team member under the general supervision of the Facilities Project Supervisor. The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic performs the full range of skilled journey level carpentry and metalworking trades along with strong skills in other trade areas to perform a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction and renovation work on building and infrastructure systems.
