The Corporal performs general law enforcement work that includes some or all of the following: patrolling campus buildings and grounds on foot or vehicle; maintaining order; enforcing laws, rule and regulations; apprehending and processing violators; initiating police action; preparing and presenting oral and written reports; providing assistance to campus personnel, students and the public in public safety matters; and serving as the lead or senior member on a campus patrol operation. |
Police Officer Lateral/Academy Graduate

The Police Officer Lateral/Academy Graduate will respond to calls for service on and around the SJSU campus. Police Officers conduct criminal and traffic investigations, make arrests, prepare necessary documents and testify in court. |
Police Dispatcher

The Police Dispatcher communication’s dispatching and public counter duties; providing clerical, records and technical support services including operating a centralized computer-aided dispatch (CAD), 9-1-1 and other non-emergency phones, and monitoring campus alarms. |
Shuttle Bus Driver

The Shuttle Bus Driver transports students, faculty, staff, and visitors between the South Campus Park and Ride lots and the Main Campus. |
Police Officer Entry Level (TEMPORARY)

The Police Officer Entry Level position exists specifically for the purpose of training the incumbent to develop the minimum qualifications necessary to become a sworn police officer. This appointment is not expected to exceed seven months, or beyond the duration of the basic academy training. |
