Position Summary:

Do you have a passion for driving IT modernization? The University of Dayton is seeking a Junior IT Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO). This role is designed for an emerging project professional who excels in a hybrid Waterfall/Agile environment. You will play a critical role in the modernization of our enterprise platforms and systems, ensuring that development, modernization, and enhancement projects are delivered with precision and alignment to University business goals.

Key Responsibilities
1) Project Lifecycle Management: Execute the end-to-end delivery of small-scale IT projects, ensuring adherence to PMO governance and quality standards.
2) Agile Leadership: Serve as a Scrum Master for assigned workstreams, facilitating ceremonies and removing blockers to maintain team velocity.
3) Senior PM Support: Assist Senior Project Managers in the execution of large-scale, complex system migrations, with a focus on risk tracking, resource coordination, and status reporting.
4) Business Alignment: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to document requirements and ensure technical solutions meet the needs of the business.
5) Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous refinement of PMO templates, tools, and methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

1) Bachelor's degree in IT, business, management, or related technical field
2) One or more years of experience as a project coordinator or junior project manager
3) Knowledge of traditional (waterfall), Agile, Scrum, and Kanban project management methodologies
4) Knowledge of, and experience using, project management software such as Jira, ServiceNow, TeamDynamix, Asana, or similar
5) General knowledge of the software development lifecycle and IT Operations
6) Strong organization skills with demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and to manage competing priorities
7) Evidence of strong communication skills - written, oral, interpersonal
8) Ability to gather business requirements and translate requirements into user stories
9) Ability to facilitate technical solutioning discussions to achieve consensus from business partners and technical experts on design and implementation plans
10) Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1) Professional project management certification from an accredited institution (PMI, Agile, Scrum)
2) Business process mapping and optimization experience
3) Demonstrated experience successfully delivering projects on time and on budget
4) Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace
