Position Summary:             

Yeshiva University announces its new College of Dental Medicine and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum integrates Digital Dentistry techniques taught by today’s dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school provides a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum, which ensures in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Endodontics will provide leadership in the development, delivery, and assessment of the endodontics curriculum. This role is responsible for ensuring excellence in clinical training, patient care, and the integration of evidence-based endodontic practices into the educational program. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education, the Director will work closely with faculty, students, and clinical staff to promote proficiency in endodontic techniques, foster innovation, and uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Integration: Design, implement, and evaluate the endodontics curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and effective integration within the broader predoctoral dental program.
  • Integrated Didactic and Clinical Instruction: Provide coordinated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based, evidence-driven teaching approaches that engage learners and integrate biomedical science principles into patient-centered endodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and care.
  • Clinical Supervision and Training: Lead and supervise endodontic clinical education, guiding students and faculty in diagnosis, case selection, treatment planning, nonsurgical root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, management of endodontic emergencies, and appropriate referral of complex cases.
  • Patient Care and Treatment Standards: Establish, implement, and monitor protocols for patient safety, quality endodontic care, infection prevention, and ethical clinical practice in accordance with current evidence-based standards.
  • Clinical and Educational Documentation: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient care, learner performance, and instructional activities in accordance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Faculty and Student Mentorship: Mentor and support faculty and students involved in endodontic education, promoting clinical competency, critical thinking, professional development, and consistency in instruction and evaluation.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure endodontic education and clinical activities comply with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, infection control requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Research and Scholarship: Support and promote scholarly activity in endodontics, encouraging evidence-based practice, research, innovation, and contributions to the academic mission of the dental school.
  • Resource and Equipment Management: Oversee the appropriate use, maintenance, and procurement of endodontic equipment, instruments, materials, and clinical resources to support effective teaching and high-quality patient care.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other clinical disciplines to support interdisciplinary education, comprehensive treatment planning, coordinated patient care, and integration of endodontics throughout the predoctoral curriculum.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Endodontics from an accredited advanced education program in Endodontics.
  • Current New York State dental license or eligibility for licensure in New York State.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of endodontic conditions.
  • Previous teaching, mentoring, or clinical supervision experience in an academic or clinical setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards, clinical education, student assessment, and institutional policies applicable to dental education preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State.

  • Teaching and Mentorship: Ability to effectively teach, supervise, mentor, and evaluate dental students in both didactic and clinical settings.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and patients.
  • Clinical Judgment: Ability to apply sound clinical judgment and evidence-based decision-making in patient care and student supervision.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to effectively manage educational, clinical, and patient care responsibilities.
  • Professionalism: Commitment to ethical conduct, patient-centered care, and the mission of the dental school.
