Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 15 with a minimum of $56,925 and a mid-point of $75,900. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of considerable difficulty providing oversight of the facilities rental department and internal and external events. Work is distinguished by the ability to provide strategic direction for facilities rental and communicate this through the development of the annual business plan. General direction is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Five years’ experience in events and meetings management.
  3. 3-5 yeas supervisory experience
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  5. Expertise in point of sale and event scheduling systems.
  6. Possess a current food service sanitation license, CPR/AED and first aid certificates or have the ability to obtain within 80 days of hire date.
  7. Exceptional customer service skills.
  8. Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  10. Demonstrated advanced accounting skills to include financial statement reconciliation and    analysis, accounts receivable & accounts payable processes along with the development of business plans.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently across department lines in a diverse population.
  12. Ability to make astute decisions and perform well under pressure in an ever-changing work environment.
  13. Flexibility to adapt to all situations and the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  14. High physical and mental capacity level to execute large events.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Develops operational strategies that includes increasing revenue and the customer base, marketing, cost containment, staff utilization, and process efficiencies.
  2. Oversight of approximately 5,800 functions annually. This requires the support and coordination of multiple departments that may include food operations for catering, police for security, O&M for set-ups and clean-ups, risk management, purchasing, student life, and VPAC.
  3. Overall responsibility for the financial direction and results of facilities rental. This includes oversight of monthly and year to date financial statements, financial analysis, annual business plans, operational budget, and accounts receivables and accounts payable.
  4. Provides supervision, coaching, training and development, and performance evaluations of full and part time staff and student workers.
  5. Reviews and signs standard departmental contracts incompliance with administrative procedure 2.405.
  6. This position is an active member on the college safety committee and part of the Campus Emergency Operation Center working in planning.

  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays when required by the needs of the department.

Physical Demands:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity:

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Position requires visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e. custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e. security, inspection, etc.).
