Work Schedule:

Second Shift  3:30 pm to 11:30 pm

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 14 with a minimum of $49,575 and a mid-point of $66,100. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

Supervise, assign, review, and participate in the work of custodial staff engaged in a variety of manual tasks in the cleaning and general upkeep of assigned buildings, facilities and adjacent areas, ensuring custodial service is effectively provided. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  1. Three years of experience in the custodial profession.
  2. Three years of supervisory experience, including but not limited to: principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
  3. Knowledge of custodial activities, training, supplies and equipment.
  4. Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices; knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; principles and procedures of record keeping.
  5. Critical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to resolve conflicts.
  6. Customer service principles and practices.
  7. Working knowledge of office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


Essential Duties:

  1. Act as a working supervisor and assume responsibility for the cleanliness of buildings, facilities and other assigned areas.
  2. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of custodial staff engaged in a variety of manual tasks in the cleaning and general upkeep of assigned buildings, facilities and adjacent areas.
  3. Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  4. Participate in the selection of assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline procedures.
  5. Receive, distribute and maintain inventory control of custodial supplies.
  6. Inspect facilities and buildings on a routine basis to monitor quality; inspects and evaluate work in progress and upon completion to assure that repairs, maintenance, and project activities are performed; identify problem areas and takes corrective action.
  7. Monitor work sites and activities and ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures; respond to and resolves complex work related or equipment operating problems.
  8. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
  9. Lock, unlock, and provide security of buildings and facilities.
  10. Direct the setup and arrangement of facilities for meetings.

Other Duties:

  1. Assist with recycling projects due to building renovation and new construction.
  2. Conduct and attend meetings, trainings and other functions as required; maintain awareness of new trends and developments; incorporate new developments as appropriate.
  3. Assist management in planning of in-service meetings.
  4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  5. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
