3D Studio Art Adjunct Faculty (Sculpture) Spring 2025

| Elgin Community College seeks adjunct instructors to teach 3D studio art courses. The courses which may be assigned include ART-103 Sculpture I, ART-104 Sculpture II, and ART-110 Design II (3D Foundations). These courses provide foundational and more advanced techniques in using three-dimensional media as well as digital tools. The ideal candidate will have a Master of Fine Arts degree in 3-dimensionsal art or a master’s degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in a 3D art discipline (e.g. sculpture, 3D design, ceramics, metalsmith) including demonstrated competencies computer-aided modeling software and equipment. Professional experience including professional exhibitions, residencies, portfolios or other professional work may be considered in addition.
The successful candidate is expected to 1) design lessons/units that promote critical thinking through student-content and student-to-student learning activities, 2) foster a supportive learning environment for students by employing evidence-based instructional strategies, and 3) demonstrate commitment to student learning and teaching effectiveness |

In addition, the lab coordinator collaborates with Director and faculty assigned to establish and implement lab protocols providing safe, clean and effective learning environments. The lab coordinator may complete routine equipment maintenance and testing when needed and troubleshoot common technical issues. Coordinators also train and delegate tasks for student workers in addition to assisting enrolled students during open lab hours. Applicants must have 1-3 years of experience working with digital/analog photography, podcasting, and/or videography beyond the fundamental level. |
