This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 16, with an annual salary range of $72,417 to $96,556. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:
|
An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing leadership to Academic Advising. Work is distinguished by the ability to develop and implement an assessment framework based on student learning outcomes and key performance indicators. General direction is received by the assigned supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
- Master’s degree in counseling, academic advising, higher education administration, student development, or relevant field, with three to five years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of the practical and theoretical aspects of educational advising and its delivery.
- Considerable skills in developing and managing departmental budgets.
- Considerable skills in critical-thinking, analytical and problem solving
- Considerable interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of staff, faculty, administration and stakeholders in a diverse community.
- Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Considerable skills in the use of Ellucian Colleague, Perceptive Content, and CRM software.
- Considerable skills in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Essential Duties:
|
- Manage, develop and implement a complex, comprehensive academic & transfer advising program, ensuring the delivery of a proactive, developmental student support system from degree declaration through graduation.
- Supervise staff and coordinate schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and student access to services, plan and assist with student events and workshops.
- Provide leadership in recommending policies, procedures and priorities concerning advising, academic & transfer planning, and student retention, while advocating for students and department.
- Coordinate academic & transfer advising practices with all departments to facilitate student success and support the College’s persistence efforts.
- Design and provide training and professional development for advisors with a focus on best practices in academic advising, utilizing various modalities and technology.
- Develop and implement assessment framework based on student learning outcomes and key performance indicators for advisors and department.
- Conduct research on current best practices in academic advising and lead the implementation of those practices.
- In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student Success or supervisor, utilize CRM software to provide relevant and effective support to students. Help organize and implement Early Alert efforts, advisor activities related to faculty and automated alerts, identification of academically vulnerable students, development and implementation of associated interventions.
- Utilize equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) best practices to identify, develop and implement equitable academic advising supports and relevant resources for students.
- Collect, organize and distribute Spartan Success / Early Alert data as appropriate while utilizing program data to advocate for and lead the developing of student supports, resources, interventions to address student needs.
- Collaborate with with other departments to develop innovative and relevant partnerships and supports that serve student interests as they relate to academic advising, persistence, retention and success.
- Manage Academic Advising budget, place orders, do requisitions, set departmental goals in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
- Identifies and resolves employee relations and performance issues.
- Provides appropriate leadership and direction and promotes positive morale, creativity and teamwork among staff.
- Evaluates employee performance and sets clear goals and expectations
- Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
- Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
- Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
