Rate of Pay:

This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 15, with an annual salary range of $62,418 to $83,224. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing crisis intervention, clinical, personal / social guidance and referral services to students, through appropriate delivery systems, to help them successfully complete the identified coursework, certificate, or degree requirements. This employee also provides wellness programming and outreach, targeting key issues that students face through workshops, table programs and class presentations. Work is distinguished by the ability to provide a holistic approach that utilizes mental health, psychological and human development principles to address issues of wellness and personal growth. Direction is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Master’s degree required. Applicable coursework in Human Relations, Psychology, Social Services, Human Services, Social Work or related field.
  2. At least two-years’ experience providing personal and social guidance to individuals, preferably in community college environment.
  3. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or related licensure
  4. Good knowledge in the application of student development and psychological theories that will help students develop holistically. 
  5. Considerable skill in crisis response or crisis counseling is necessary. 
  6. The ability, knowledge, and forward thinking to determine when a student requires additional professional help.
  7. Desire to work in an academic setting and support the mission of the College.
  8. Considerable oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and conduct presentations for a variety of student audiences.
  9. Some computer skills in word processing, and Internet usage also required.
  10. Bi-lingual proficiency (Spanish) is highly desirable.
  11. Some evening work required.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Provide individual and group counseling to students to assist them in their holistic development; implement plans to help students succeed in meeting their intended goals. Provide assistance with locating appropriate off-campus resources and refer as needed.
  2. Provide emergency and follow-up counseling services to students referred by the Dean of Students office as well as faculty and staff. Be available to faculty and staff for consultation, walk-ins, and psycho-education guidance regarding student concerns.
  3. Coordinate, collaborate and present proactive and prevention educational information sessions and wellness programming, targeting key issues such as emotional wellness, stress management, sexuality, healthy relationships, eating concerns, sexual assault and violence prevention, bystander-invention, HIV/STI prevention, tobacco cessation, accessing public aid programs, Mental Health First Aid, by-stander intervention, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking date rape drugs, etc. through workshops, table programs, college events and class presentations to the ECC campus community. Work with different ECC departments and the Dean of Students office.
  4. Actively participate on different ECC teams and task forces to provide a mental health perspective, including the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT). 
  5. Provide direct support, and guidance to support students referred to Wellness Services through the College’s Early Alert system.
  6. Maintain case records, notes, and closing summaries on all students serviced. Document all pertinent student information. Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students.
  7. Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act (MHEACA) and other legislative requirements through collaboration and consultation with the Associate Dean, utilizing best practices in the development, facilitation and assessment of the MHEACA goals.
  8. Participate in related professional development activities.

Other Duties:

  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
