The Accessioner will report to the General Supervisor on duty and be responsible for performing sample accessioning in a CLIA Certified COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostics testing lab. This includes, but is not limited to, sample receiving and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to compliance regulations and established standard operating procedures. Other duties may be assigned. This is an 18-month term position with the possibility of renewal depending on funding and business need. Responsibilities: • Receive all samples for clinical testing • Data entry through scanning into LIMS database • Perform internal audits and data collection as required • Prepare samples for analysis and testing • Collaborate with clinical lab staff to ensure testing accuracy • Complete data entry in an accurate and timely manner • Report to General Supervisors and document any problems with sample receipt
Postdoctoral Research Associate Boston Main Campus
Conduct research in the areas of Software Engineering, focusing on the development of algorithms for automating the testing of software. Duties include: design and implementation of algorithms, conducting experimental evaluations, reporting results in documents and submitting these for review to scientific conferences and journals, and presenting results at scientific venues. To assist an ongoing research project on “Movement as vital sign in preterm infants”, the person will analyze long-term physiological recordings from preterm infants collected in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The research examines how spontaneous movements may affect respiratory activity, specifically cessations of breathing. This data analysis will use an algorithm to identify movements from the PPG signal and relate these movements to the respiratory signal.
Postdoctoral Research Associate Marine Science Center Nahant, MA
The Distel Laboratory at the Northeastern University Marine Science Center seeks a postdoctoral research scientist to take a leading role in research exploring the interactions between shipworms (worm-like wood-eating marine bivalves) and their intracellular bacterial endosymbionts. Shipworms are the only marine animals known to grow and reproduce with wood as a sole food source. They are unique among all marine intracellular symbioses in that both the hosts and their symbionts can be cultured in the laboratory. The current position will develop shipworms as a model system for studying host-symbiont interaction under funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and will support a NOAA funded project that explores potential biomedical and biotechnological applications of symbiont communities associated with an ancient submerged forest off the coast of Alabama.
