About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for leading a small team in the planning and delivery of the City of Greater Geelong’s graffiti management, public lighting programs, line marking maintenance, bus shelter program, amenity & municipality cleaning. The role is responsible for the development of innovative policies and strategic planning activities that ensures these services effectively meet community & council expectation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively lead the City Safe team, ensuring ongoing staff safety, well-being, and career development.
  • Facilitate the preparation, revision and implementation of policies, strategies and procedures related to service areas of graffiti management, public lighting, line marking, bus shelters, amenity & municipal cleaning.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify and develop best practice processes for the provision of City Safe services including establishment where required & management of service level agreements.
  • Facilitate new and innovative processes to maximise community ownership of strategies that address anti-social behaviour.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have an in depth understanding of Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field, or several years of practical experience in provision of similar services including experience in policy development & procedure preparation.

Essential Experience:

  • Proficient in the use of research principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to reference legislation in preparation of responses to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Literacy & written skills of a high order and ability to prepare clear and concise reports and correspondence on matters relating to operation of the Section as requested.
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between Council, the Community and other Authorities and the ability to consult and facilitate cooperation between individuals and community groups.
