The role: 

Due to newly awarded project, Symal are looking for a robust Environment & Sustainability Manager to jump on board a team that will be based in Mount Fox, 2 hours outside of Townsville, delivering an innovative energy project.

This role in particular will be a FIFO role on a 2:1 roster.

Your impact: 

The experience you bring will ensure that Symal leaves as little an impact as possible to the surrounding environment. 

Your every day: 

  • Developing and lead the maintenance of environment and sustainability management systems across the project.
  • Managing environmental incident response and investigations ensuring all potential risks are mitigated, on conjunction with the wider HSEQ team.
  • Providing environment and sustainability guidance and ensuring there is a consistent approach to compliance across the project.
  • Coordinating multiple work fronts and consultants
  • Maintaining a high level of compliance to project management systems, contract requirements, and legislative requirements
  • Liaising with and working closely with the wider delivery team to implement and manage environmentally friendly and sustainable risk management controls, ensuring regulatory and legal obligations are met.
  • Working closely with the client and government bodies on related environmental matters on the project.

Who are you? 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in the environmental field and / or project management is highly regarded.
  • ISC Sustainability Accreditation (desirable)
  • Approximately 5-10 years with relevant experience in HSEQ within the construction industry.
  • Certification under a nationally recognised professional program in Erosion and Sediment Control or similar
  • Willingness to work away from home in a camp environment.
  • Experience working in Queensland (ideally)
