St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park is located near the junction of the M5 and M7 motorways. It is a rapidly growing K-12 school with a student population exceeding 1500 students in 2024. The college is one school, not a traditional primary school and high school coexisting on the same site.  As such, the College is organised into Junior Years Learning (K-4), Middle Years Learning (5-8), and Senior Years Learning (9-12). St Francis has just completed Stage 7 of Building Development and offers state-of-the-art learning & specialist KLA facilities.

A permanent full time position commencing 31 January 2025.  The role of the Middle Leader exists to support the Principal in implementing the vision and mission of the school, to support growth in faith and improvement in learning and wellbeing of students, and assist the college leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the school.  The K-4 Pastoral Care Coordinator position is an important Middle Leader role at St Francis Catholic College and a part of the extended College Executive team.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate you are an effective educator who:

  • Gives witness to the faith and contributes to the Catholic life and culture of the school community.
  • Builds a learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage multiple and conflicting demands.
  • Has a commitment to academic excellence and a sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to pedagogy including the nature of assessment and differentiated learning.
  • Has an ability to lead Pastoral Care, professionally develop self and relevant staff, foster innovation and creativity in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Positive Behaviours for Learning frameworks (PB4L) and develop behaviour management procedures and structures in response to data analysis.
  • Builds capacity through their own professional development and supporting staff by providing access to professional learning opportunities, giving regular feedback, and  managing performance.
  • Is an outstanding educational leader with proven ability to develop engaging programs of Pastoral Care to meet the diverse needs of students.

The following GENERAL CAPABILITIES are applicable to the role:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • A well developed contemporary understanding of education including concepts such as Deep Learning and/or Learning by Design.
  • Demonstrated experience driving a culture of learning with like-minded professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Level C Accreditation in accordance with ‘Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong’ policy or a commitment to gain within the first contractual period.
  • NESA Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.
