The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this temporary full-time or part-time negotiable position as an EAL/D Teacher at St Therese Catholic Parish Primary School, West Wollongong commencing Term 3, 2025.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This position sits within the Learning K-12 Team, the position requires significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools. This role is part of a wider EAL/D team and as such, the EAL/D Teacher will be required to:
- Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.
- Work within the school team to implement the EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities.
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities in order to build teacher capacity.
- Coordinate, facilitate and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.
- Support EAL/D students’ learning needs through a range of pedagogical processes, including collaborative planning, co-teaching with classroom teachers and the design of student learning plans.
ABOUT YOU
- Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
- A well-articulated understanding and application of student-centred, quality EAL/D pedagogical practices that are grounded in current evidence-based research.
- The ability to identify EAL/D students’ needs and plan for appropriate student support K-6.
- Apply expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.
- Facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning.
- Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
- Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREIENCE
- University TESOL training or a willingness to undertake such training.
- Appropriate qualifications for teaching Primary K – 6.
- Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
- The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE
This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.
