About Innovation Economy division
As the lead government agency in charting Singapore’s overall economic development, EDB plays a critical role in defining what an innovation economy looks like for Singapore and formulating the strategies toward it. The Innovation Economy division in EDB is responsible for uncovering and incubating new economic opportunities and to bolster Singapore’s value propositions as an innovation ecosystem for companies.
About the Role
In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team to identify and incubate new areas of growth, as well as to co-create solutions and develop strategies to strengthen Singapore as an innovation economy. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with local and global innovation actors, and contribute towards expanding the base of enterprises in Singapore with the means to create globally competitive products, services and businesses from Singapore.
The candidate will be responsible for charting the development of new economic opportunities, and is also expected to advise on innovation processes to enhance organisational excellence in identifying and developing new growth areas.
Identify and engage companies and their stakeholders (e.g. customers, suppliers, research institutions) to gather insights on new economic opportunities
Analyse and synthesise findings to map industry value chains, challenges and needs
Develop compelling value propositions and co-create solutions to strengthen Singapore as an innovation economy, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry groups in EDB, other government agencies and industry partners). This includes the co-creation of solutions to meet the needs of new economic opportunities.
Engage and partner with companies to consider Singapore as their location to site regional and global activities related to the new economic opportunities.
Contribute to EDB’s innovation process through learning on the job and refinement of the internal innovation toolkit
At least 6 years of relevant work experience, with applications of design thinking principles or innovation methodologies/tools (e.g. Lean Start-Up) and/or working on corporate innovation, venture building or business strategy & development
Passionate about playing a role in developing the future growth drivers for Singapore, with a strong interest in emerging trends, future industries, and technologies
Demonstrates a keen sense of business acumen with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Resourceful with a self-starter mindset; strong ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken; is adept at engaging a range of internal and external stakeholders across seniority levels
Strong team player in an agile environment; versatile and open to learn, explore and experiment
