About the role

The work helps protect homeowners when building work is incomplete or defective and supports a residential building scheme people can rely on.

As a Claims Officer within our Home Building Compensation Fund team, you’ll manage property claims from end to end, supporting homeowners when their builder is unable to meet their obligations. You’ll bring your claims judgement and customer focus to each case, working through information, policy and legislation to reach fair and timely outcomes. While home building compensation experience is valuable, we welcome broader claims experience and will support you to build your knowledge of the scheme.

 

What you'll be working on

  • Manage a portfolio of claims from lodgement through to resolution
  • Support homeowners through their claim, providing clear information about next steps, entitlements and responsibilities
  • Review claim information and make considered decisions in line with policy, legislation and delegated authority
  • Work with homeowners, representatives, legal providers and other stakeholders to progress claims and resolve issues
  • Balance competing priorities while meeting service standards and keeping customers informed
  • Share knowledge with your team and contribute ideas that improve the claims experience and ways of working

 

 

What you'll bring

  • Experience managing claims, ideally across property, home, general insurance, workers compensation, life insurance, home warranty or similar
  • Confidence managing claims end to end and applying sound judgement to reach appropriate outcomes
  • An ability to communicate clearly and with care when supporting homeowners through complex or unfamiliar situations
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage a consistent portfolio of claims and competing priorities
  • An ability to interpret policy, legislation and claim information and apply it to individual circumstances
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn specialist Home Building Compensation Fund products, policies and regulatory requirements
