About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Survey Manager looking to step into a permanent full-time role with complex projects in across Sydney and regional NSW. 

You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of all survey related activities in conjunction with the project engineering, design and construction teams.  This role will also have responsibility for the supervision and support of all survey team members, as well as any subcontract survey resources on site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Survey Management Plan (SMP).
  • Lead and build a high-performing survey team, ensuring compliance with project objectives and safety standards.
  • Manage survey resources, equipment calibration, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee survey processes for design and construction activities, including control maintenance and ‘as-constructed’ data.
  • Liaise with project managers, designers, and external stakeholders to provide accurate survey information.
  • Promote best practices, staff development, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Ensure all EDME (Electronic Distance Measuring equipment) is calibrated, at minimum, annually in accordance with Appendices 6 - Surveyor General’s Directions # 5 and described in section 11.4.1 of this document.

What you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in surveying or spatial science
  • Minimum 10 years surveying experience with at least 5 years in civil construction and civil set out (experience in a Defence project highly regarded)
  • Intermediate/expert user of the following software;
    • 12d model
    • 12d synergy
    • AutoCAD
    • Trimble Business Centre
  • Experience using all types of surveying field software and hardware including;
    • Trimble
    • Topcon
    • Leica
