At BMD, we’re powering futures and creating enduring legacies through a commitment to collaboration. Our values of Family, Driven, Empowered and Collaborative guide how we operate every day. We are a leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business with a growing international presence in the UK, Philippines and across Australia.

For over 46 years, we’ve delivered complex infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. Join us to make a lasting impact and be part of a values-driven organisation that prioritises growth, learning and collaboration.

About the role

This is an opportunity to lead communications across a diverse portfolio spanning major infrastructure projects, corporate initiatives, and strategic business programs. You’ll be a trusted partner to leaders across operations, project delivery and corporate functions, ensuring communications are clear, timely and strategically aligned.

You’ll help connect employees, clients, communities and partners through content, campaigns and engagement initiatives that bring BMD’s story to life. This role blends hands-on content creation with strategic advisory work and genuine engagement with stakeholders across regions and project sites.

Your accountabilities:

  • Define communications challenges, create meaningful solutions, and be accountable for delivery in partnership with BMD Group entities JMac, Corporate Business Travel (CBT) and BMD Group’s HR and Indigenous engagement functions.
  • Drive measurable impact using insights, data and creativity to solve complex communication challenges.
  • Lead internal and external campaigns engaging employees, clients and communities.
  • Provide strategic guidance to leaders, translating business priorities into actionable communications strategies.
  • Support strategic initiatives by delivering clear, consistent and timely messaging.
  • Collaborate with digital and external communications teams to maximise reach, quality and engagement.
  • Monitor, evaluate and refine campaigns using data, analytics, and feedback to continuously improve outcomes.

You are:

  • Deeply curious and thrive in fast-paced, multi-region environments.
  • Able to influence peers and leaders to achieve measurable results.
  • A problem solver, using data, creativity, and systems thinking to address complex communications challenges.
  • Delivery-focused, ensuring initiatives are executed on time and with sustainable impact.
  • Highly collaborative, building strong relationships across teams, regions and business units.
  • A strategic thinker and confident communicator with senior leadership engagement skills.

Your responsibilities:

  • Act as the communications lead for your allocated regions and business units, building trusted relationships with senior leaders, project teams and corporate functions.
  • Develop, implement and deliver communication plans aligned to business priorities and BMD’s strategy and values.
  • Lead internal and external communications for projects, corporate initiatives, workforce engagement and community initiatives.
  • Create content for multiple channels, including intranet, newsletters, video, presentations and social media.
  • Coordinate photography, videography and digital content capture to support storytelling and project promotion.
  • Provide advice and support to leaders on communications approaches, particularly during sensitive or high-profile initiatives.

You have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communications, ideally in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Knowledge of construction, infrastructure and highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with remote teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.

  • Recognition through annual awards and our Thrive platform.
  • Mental health support and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Flexible working arrangements to support your life and family.
